DJ Format video editing exercise

For this task we were given a choice of 5 different songs and the video of DJ Formats "We know something you don't know". This exercise was set to make us more experimental with cutting the video about to make it more interesting because every character in the video is in an animal costume so you don't need to worry about lip-syncing. When doing the exercise we learnt that to keep a music video interesting you need to have around 2-300 cuts in a 3 minute video.

You wanna what, Lipsync exercise

For our music video project, the first task we were set was to lip sync you wanna what by Alecia Elliott with a video shot by long road students about 5 years ago. This task was designed to teach us the importance of lip-syncing a music video.

To do this i opened final cut express and opened up the video files. I started by finding a defining point in the sound track on the video clip, i then put the master track of the song on and synced those roughly. once i had a rough idea of where the video had to be i deleted the sound off the video so i was left with just the video and the master track. I then synced the sound so it looked like the girl in the video was saying it, this was easy having already made it in time with the other sound track. I repeated this so all 4 of the video clips were synced up on different video lines. once it was all synced i cut the videos about to make it cut in time with the music etc
